The Host

We are a family obeying to the inner duty of never forsake the hopes of who built and so hardly worked in the lands currently under our charge. Lands blazed by fires, a battered house and a derelict watermill - material proofs of a ardurous life. To revive all this: foster natural regeneration, make the griding mill turn again and enliven the house; that fields boast fertility and wildlife returns to the surrounding hills, that families may settle in the village - bringing about life. This is a guessing path with no other rule than to counter a linger disaffection for nature and rural heritage. We realize in the old a harbinger of youthfulness calling for our attention; as such, we recovered this house as a revival adventure, not as a preservation effort.

We started this path with a small beekeping activity and have now this house ready to receive guests. Among friends, in the surrounding mounts we already regulary plant chestnut trees, wild fruit trees and bushes – crab apple, plymouth pear, common pear, blackthorn, wild cherry, common hazel, sorbus tree – that will help the wildlife recovery and migh feed whoever wanders by. Soon, it will be started a plantation of an agroforest where prevail fruit trees of old regional varieties – apples, pears, figs, table grapes – with a variety of edible plants. A space of diverse fertility in search of esthetic confort and of the food`s plain flavour.
